Gunners prove credentials

Arsenal 2-1 Man City

Arsenal produced a wonderful performance on Monday night to lay down a marker in this season’s title race as the Gunners defeated Manchester City 2-1 at the Emirates.

With several key players out injured such as Cazorla, Coquelin and the team’s talisman Alexis Sanchez, Arsene Wenger and the fans needed eleven heroic performances from those in red and white. That is exactly what they got. Olivier Giroud chased and harried all night, as did Mesut Ozil, Joel Campbell and Theo Walcott to help the team succeed on the defensive side of the game.

Gunners cruise to the top

Aston Villa 0-2 Arsenal

Aaron Ramsey celebrates

Arsenal rounded off an excellent week by rising to the top of the Premier League table for twenty four hours at least, after a comfortable win against Aston Villa.

Following the mid week win against Olympiacos in which the Gunners expended so much effort, this was always going to be a difficult task. After all Wenger could only name the same starting eleven as he had done in Greece and therefore tiredness would definitely prove to be factor as the game wore on.

Back in the hunt

Arsenal 3-1 Sunderland

Arsenal responded to recent disappointing league results and devastating injury news with a crucial win at home to Sunderland on Saturday.

The Gunners needed to get all three points to stay in touch with the top of the table with results on Saturday going their way, Arsenal did just that. Following their recent poor run and the fact that Wenger had to reshuffle his starting eleven, it was understandable that the home side would start the match slightly nervously as they tried to find their fluidity.
